Hosting an Interactive Event on Mental Health that Provided Assistance to All Ages
Jackson County Public Health welcomed more than 520 community members, 110 volunteers, and community partners to their 4th Annual Wellness Extravaganza. The event is a large, community-driven initiative that focuses on making learning about mental health easier for community members.
The team was proud to share not only information about professional supports like therapy and medications, but also practical, low-cost (and low-effort) ways people can improve their mental wellness, which is especially important in rural communities where resources can be limited. From interactive stations to hands-on activities, the energy in the room showed just how powerful learning about mental wellness can be when it’s engaging and accessible.
Staff shared, “One of the most meaningful parts of the evening was seeing how multi-generational this event truly is. From newborns and young children to parents, caregivers, and older adults, people of all ages showed up. Even more powerful was watching families learn and engage together. That connection is what this is all about. Strong, positive relationships between caregivers and youth are key to building resilient, healthy communities.”
